Getting in Touch with Our Local Roots

This month, Peter, our Community Intern, helped organize a unique event series for our members in NYC. Read his recap on this fun and delicious event:

Our members are always planning fun events for the community. At least once a month, Common likes to plan something too. Our members love finding cool things in their neighborhood. So when Local Roots NYC reached out to us, we knew we had to make it happen!

Local Roots NYC works to bring people together through local food by giving subscribers the option to sign up for a season’s worth of any particular item that will then be dropped off on a weekly basis.

Founded by our new friend Wen-Jay, Local Roots NYC offers a wide variety of preservative-free options, including everything from fresh fruit, veggies, meats, cheeses, and even homemade pasta! Their goal is to curate socialization between people who are interested in supporting local distributors, while also providing an amazing service to all who sign up.

We were so excited to host Local Roots NYC in Crown Heights and Williamsburg. On the first two Sundays of January, members gathered in the Common areas of our Common Havemeyer and Common Albany homes to enjoy tasty plates provided by Local Roots NYC, as well as learn more about the organization and their mission.

After members had a chance to ask questions, they were then given the chance to sign up for weekly deliveries using a Common discount. Providing opportunities like these to our members is something that we are constantly trying to do. Much of what Local Roots NYC is trying to accomplish aligns perfectly with the values and goals of Common, so we’re excited for what’s to come!

Here are some more photos from the events.
