Fun roommate activities in LA

TwitterPinterestFacebook

Living in southern California is a dream in and of itself, but the endless ways to explore LA makes it even more magical. Get ready to experience your very own La La Land. You won’t have a moment to be bored, as long as you have a roommate and this list of fun activities in LA.

For the outdoorsy roomies

The city’s outstanding weather makes it the perfect place to indulge in all the outdoor activities. Spend the day outside and get some vitamin D on a hike; more specifically, hike to the Hollywood sign for the classic LA photo op. You can walk several different trails and end up at one of the most photogenic spots in the city.

If you’d rather stay close to the ground, explore the many beaches of LA. Walk along Santa Monica Pier for some retail therapy or carnival treats. To avoid the crowds, head over to Venice Beach or even Malibu. It’s also never a bad idea to ride down Pacific Coast Highway and discover Redondo Beach (a great place for seafood!), Huntington, Newport, Laguna Beaches, and so on.

Looking for a great workout? LA boasts a ton of fun boutique studios and local workout classes you won’t find anywhere else.

Visit 305 Fitness on Melrose Ave for a dynamic 55-minute dance party with a live DJ. You’ll forget that you’re there to work out. To feel some zen, try Yogaworks. They’ve got classes for vinyasa flow, sculpting, and even pilates. As a Common member, you can enjoy a discounted membership there and take classes near Common Melrose.

Live like an A-lister. Discover private and coliving apartments with Common.

For the artsy roomies

LA has some of the grandest, most engaging art museums in the country. Visit Los Angeles County Museum of Art to find everything from ancient, global exhibitions to film and concert series. LACMA tickets are free for LA County residents at certain times during the week, meaning that members at Common Melrose can enjoy free admission.

The Broad in DTLA offers more Instagrammable contemporary art, whereas the Griffith Observatory has a giant planetarium and the best panoramic view of the city. For more, venture up to the Getty Center and walk among Renaissance paintings, Greek and Roman sculptures, and calligraphy pieces.

For the shopaholic roomies

Budgeting might seem impossible in LA as you constantly find yourself in great emporia and amazing local shops. However, living at Common Melrose will help you save over $300 per month on necessities, so you can enjoy yourself at Larchmont Village and The Grove, home of the Original Farmer’s Market. Don’t feel bad treating yourself at Hollywood and Highland, or downtown Santa Monica, and the famous Abbot Kinney Blvd.

For the adrenaline junkie roomies

We’ve got you covered with the amazing theme parks in LA. Disneyland: California Adventure isn’t called “the happiest place on earth” for nothing. The giant turkey legs, the Mad Tea Party ride, and the fireworks will make you embrace your inner child.

For an even more magical time, visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios and determine which house you and your roommate(s) belong in. Don’t forget to try the Butterbeer! True thrill seekers and roller coaster enthusiasts can make their way to Six Flags Magic Mountain. Those rides are guaranteed to make you scream.

For the Netflix roomies

Take a break from Netflix on your Smart TV at Common Melrose, and catch an outdoor movie. Both Rooftop Cinema Club and Cinespia’s Hollywood Forever Cemetery host movie nights where you can bring a picnic and blanket to an outdoor screening of your favorite films.

For the foodie roomies

LA’s food scene won’t disappoint. There are too many great restaurants to count, local coffee shops to try, and amazing food to drool over. Even just along Melrose Ave, you’ll be able to explore different cuisines and find culinary gems.

Osteria Mozza take their pasta, burrata, and huckleberry bombolini very seriously. Be ready to lose yourself at this Mozzarella bar. Treat your soul to Tatsu Ramen’s signature smoky, rich Tonkotsu ramen, or brunch ’til you drop at Blu Jam Cafe, Fig & Olive, or Urth Cafe. Plan dinner and drinks at E.P. and L.P., and finish off the night with dessert from Salt & Straw or Milk Bar Melrose.
