Located in Echo Park, Eightfold Coffee has a cult following for their delicious Heart Coffee from Portland. Their space is small and simple, but they’ve got free WiFi, plenty of outlets, large marble tables with communal bench seating, and a welcoming environment for anyone looking to get work done. You won’t find a lot of pastries to munch on in this coffee shop, but that means you can focus on hours on end and get the creative juices flowing in without distractions. But if you do need a break from your work, they’ve got a great curation of books and zines to get inspired.

Bricks & Scones

Bricks & Scones is a treasured coffee shop in Larchmont Village. Enter the free-standing building to find a massive yet cozy space, perfect for ditching the office and working remotely. You can use their free WiFi from the great outdoor patio or even the quieter second floor for productive hours. Don’t forget to order their local coffee (LAMILL Coffee from Alhambra) and most importantly, try the warm scones. The cafe also has a full-service breakfast, sandwiches, and several pastries baked on-site if you ever need a boost of creative energy.

You can find Verve across the city, with locations downtown, in West Hollywood, and by The Grove. In addition to being conveniently located, their coffee from Santa Cruz is so good that it gets all kinds of people — from entrepreneurs to freelancers — to come out of the office and seek it out. Each of their locations is a beautiful, bright space with plenty of natural light, seating, and a great patio. The cafe serves coffee all day, amazing pastries, and even healthier snacks like chia pudding.

Andante

Andante Coffee Roasters has locations on Beverly Boulevard, near Melrose, and in Echo Park. This cafe is a powerhouse for laptop users, freelancers, and entrepreneurs hard at work, taking a break from the city. The open space has ample outlets, speedy WiFi, big communal tables, and a strong brew of coffee. The owners designed the place to foster a creative environment and friendly community so that people linger for some time and build relationships.

Head to The Semi Tropic, located off Sunset in Echo Park, to set up shop for a day of productive work. There’s plenty of couches and comfortable seating areas as well as a daytime menu (we highly recommend avocado toast!) to get you through that project. This coffee shop is also part-bar, meaning you can grab a drink if you ever get writer’s block. Escape the office for this space with pure coffee, WiFi, and late hours.

Philz Coffee

Originally based in San Francisco, this coffee shop is always bustling with college students and young entrepreneurs no matter the time, especially for its mint mojito iced coffee. The DTLA and Sunset Boulevard locations have tons of open tables and strong WiFi that they make for great places to plow through your workload. They also have fresh juices and delicious snacks to keep you motivated. You’ll get way more work done than you would in your stuffy office cubicle.
