Caesar Nguyen is a Senior Director of Real Estate at Common, working on the Real Estate team. Keep reading to learn more about his experience, and head to www.common.com/careers to learn more about our company, our values, and how you can join our team.
Why did you choose to work at Common?
I was initially attracted to Common because of the company’s mission to provide quality and attainable housing for renters. As I learned more about the company, talented teams, innovative approach to design, and adoption of technology to help us scale and be more efficient in operations, I realized that Common was on the right path to disrupt the entire industry. I was thrilled when I joined the Real Estate team to contribute my part and make a difference.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A physicist. I loved tinkering to understand how things worked and experimenting to improve existing systems. That passion is still there, however, now it’s switched to real estate development.
What was your favorite thing about your first week at Common?
The flat organization structure. I could just bounce ideas off of Brad (Common’s CEO) and Simon (Common’s CFO), and they would take time to listen, evaluate, and implement if the proposals made sense. I never had that same exposure and opportunity working at institutional firms in the past.
Can you describe your growth experience at Common?
I’m incredibly grateful for my growth at Common over the past 3 years. Everyone has been incredibly supportive and given me the resources to help me grow in my professional career. As the company grew, we have faced a lot of new challenges, and I raised my hand to offer my help to solve them. Those experiences gave me a lot of perspectives on ways Common can grow, how we can provide better services and solutions to owners and renters, and how to be a better negotiator.
What has been your favorite team outing?
The Real Estate team hiked up Breakneck Ridge last year. It was a lot of fun and great camaraderie seeing everyone away from the office!
