Why did you choose to work at Common?
Common was my first introduction to coliving. I was intrigued by the concept that I could be a part of a company that improves the experience for people looking for an affordable and convenient place to live. Interacting with the friendly Common team during the interview process was the icing on the cake for me!
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a police officer and work in a community similar to the one I grew up in.
What was your favorite thing about your first week at Common?
Definitely getting a chance to interact with all of my new co-workers. The culture is extremely inclusive and friendly which made me feel welcomed as soon as I walked through the door. Also, I got a chance to visit New York City for training which was a great experience!
Can you describe your growth experience at Common?
When I started at Common, I was the only Leasing Specialist in San Francisco. I was able to leverage my prior experience working in sales and operations to fill many of the vacancies while also identifying gaps and making recommendations. Within 4 months of joining the team, I was promoted to Senior Leasing Specialist and now oversee Leasing Specialists across the West Coast.
What’s been your favorite team outing?
My favorite team outing was an improvisation class in New York with the team. One of the exercises was to go outside and complete a list of tasks with strangers, which helped push me out of my comfort zone and got me prepared for karaoke with the team that night. I sang “Lovesick Blues” and it was a blast!
