Hi Jenna! Can you tell us more about your first week on the Member Support team?

When you start at Common, you hit the ground running! I spent most of the week meeting my new colleagues, learning from each of their roles, and building relationships with the other teammates I would be working with down the line on the in member support and beyond. Everyone from the People Ops team to my manager to Brad, our CEO, welcomed me with interest and enthusiasm. Learning about different aspects of Common from a variety of people was extremely helpful, especially in the beginning.

What’s your favorite part about working at Common?

I love that there is so much cross-functional teamwork! Common constantly creates opportunities to learn, grow, and explore new types of work in an incredibly supportive. There’s a lot of room for independence and leadership, but anyone on the team is willing to jump in at a moment’s notice to help if needed.

My team is incredibly supportive of one another and it helps us get through the busy seasons. Team outings are also another aspect I love about working at Common. Our team definitely bonded on one of our outings to a tiny local brewery in Long Island City that none of us had ever been to before…we ended up staying all night playing 90’s trivia and ordering Indian food.

What’s one surprising thing you’ve learned in your current role?

At Common, it’s hard to stay isolated within your team or role. I was definitely surprised by the wide variety of the types of tasks and projects to be involved in! My work spans departments and disciplines; I could be working with our billing team on their invoice process and speaking with a property technician to try to understand the process for a repair within the same hour! This keeps the role fun, interesting, and creates chances for learning and growing.

What do you love most about interacting with your members?

As a member support manager, I love meeting and helping our members every day. Being able to answer questions and resolve any inquiries is very fulfilling.

Favorite Hobby?

Going for runs around Brooklyn.

Definitely Common Grand (pictured below) or Bowman!
