Why Common Cassell is not just your average rental

Politics, history, nightlife, culture, education — for whatever reason you came to Washington D.C. the most essential part of your life in the city is the place you call home. It should be comfortable, convenient, and a space you look forward to spending time in. At Common, we design and operate apartments across Washington D.C. that make it easier to rent and live in the city, and our latest home, Common Cassell is no exception. Keep reading to learn more about what makes this building not just your average rental, or book a tour on our website.

Space to connect (with stunning views!)

Common Cassell offers two community spaces — a lounge and a rooftop deck — perfect for working from home, enjoying your morning coffee, or getting together with suitemates and other members. Think of the lounge as an extension of your living room, with a comfortable couch, dining area, and wet bar. Outside the sliding glass doors, you’ll find space to enjoy never-ending views of D.C. We recommend heading up during the sunset with snacks and drinks for the ultimate end to the day.

A lively neighborhood with a rich history

Maybe one of the most exciting aspects of Common Cassell is right outside your door: Shaw. This historic and vibrant neighborhood is home to some of the city’s best dining, shopping, and nightlife, and Common Cassell is within walking distance of it all. For a great night out, cozy up to a bowl of Ramen at Haikan, catch a concert at the 9:30 club, and end the night with tacos and tequila at El Rey — all a few blocks from Common Cassell. If you’re looking for a more lowkey way to spend the day, grab a cup of coffee and maybe a vegan breakfast from Busboys and Poets, then go for a stroll in Meridian Park. Other nearby destinations include Howard University, 9th Street, Blagden Alley, and Naylor Court.

Art curated for daily inspiration

The first thing you’ll notice when you walk into Common Cassell is a colorful, abstract entranceway mural by Kristin Texeira. This mural is one of many hand-selected art works curated by Sugarlift for the home. In each suite, as well as the community lounge and rooftop, you’ll find original work by artists Kristin Texeria, Jon Legere, Scott Albrecht, Chris Dunlap, Ellen Rutt, and Robert Van Bangert. Even if you don’t consider yourself an art-aficionado, or would rather spend an afternoon at the movies than a museum, the selection of paintings, sculptures, and prints is a welcome boost of inspiration from the comfort of your own home.
