For most rental apartments, the cost of the actual “rent” is more than just the price you see on the listing sites. Spaces to gather
Crowded kitchens, living rooms that can only fit a loveseat, and bathrooms that are *this* close to becoming unusable — rental apartments, especially those shared with roommates, usually get a bad rep. (If you’ve ever had a fridge and an oven that open onto each other, you’ll know what we’re talking about.)
Common Perry, designed from the ground-up by Common’s Studio team, is a blue-print for the future of roommate living. The kitchens were designed to allow more than one person to cook at a time, and a breakfast bar and plenty of counter space make it a natural gathering space in the home. The finishes were chosen with durability in mind, too: the countertops in the kitchen and bathroom are a custom quartz that can withstand years of spills, hot plates, and plenty of use.
Off the kitchen you’ll find a comfortable living room. According to Eduardo Tinoco, a member of Common’s Studio team, the living rooms were designed so that each member could have a space to sit and be involved in anything going on in the space, whether it was a movie night or just a friendly conversation.
Beyond the suites, you’ll find several amenity spaces: a movie room, a penthouse lounge, and a rooftop deck. The movie room is perfect for bringing together members from across the building to watch award shows, big games, and of course, movies. It’s the perfect spot for hosting a co-created event with Common: just send your idea (SuperBowl watch party! Pumpkin carving!) to your member experience manager, and Common will help you cover the expenses. For a more elevated feel — literally — head up to the penthouse lounge. The gorgeous communal table is the ideal spot to work from home, but there’s also a wet-bar that allows the space to go from study spot to after hours lounge as soon as the clock strikes six. If you need your privacy, you can always curl up in the reading nook.
Right outside the lounge is the furnished rooftop deck. Enjoy your breakfast at one of the many bistro tables, or soak up the sun and the views of surrounding Brookland for a refreshing mid-day break.

The best parts about Common Perry don’t end at the front door. 20 minutes outside of downtown D.C, Brookland is a cozy and comfortable community that, while it doesn’t have the hustle and bustle of other D.C. neighborhoods, has all the best parts of city living. Get involved in Brookland’s vibrant arts community — the Arts Walk at Monroe Street Market brings together artists from across the city, featuring paintings, leather goods, and even performances. For a true escape, you’re nearby the National Arboretum, a 446 acre park with trees, statues, and places to relax.
For students at Catholic University of America, Common Perry is the ideal home: you’re only a quick walk away from campus, which means you can savor those extra 15 minutes of sleep once on-campus classes resume. You’re also a quick walk away from Nation’s Pharmacy and Yes! Organic Market.
