Hi Chris! Can you walk us through a typical day as an associate manager at Common?
The beauty of working at Common is that no day is exactly the same! It keeps me motivated and refreshed. On an average day, day-to-day responsibilities range from managing our Sales Development team to helping manage our West Coast and Noah portfolios from a sales perspective. My main focus is to oversee the top of our sales funnel by driving business-to-consumer interactions and strategizing for new ways to lease up our buildings.
What was your first week at Common like?
My first week on the sales team, I was onboarding at NYC’s HQ where I got to meet my entire team and others at the company. The week was filled with training sessions and introductions over cups of coffee. It was a lot of information, but everyone I met was so encouraging and helpful!
What’s your favorite part about working at Common?
I love being a part of building a business different from anything else available on the market. The work I’m doing now will hopefully be a part of many people’s lives in the future and that feels great. An extra bonus is that the company is filled with energetic and smart people who make each day enjoyable.
How have you grown within the company since your first day?
When I first joined Common just over a year ago, the entire sales and operations teams were structured for a much smaller scale. It’s been amazing to see our team grow and adapt to keep up with Common’s business needs and rapid growth.
To adapt to Common’s quickly growing business, we formed the Sales Development team this November, and I’ve been lucky to lead it since day one. This entire experience has taught me a great deal about perspective. Going from a self contributor to manager of direct reports has helped me learn how things can be done more efficiently for the business as a whole.

- What did you want to be when you grew up? An entrepreneur. I’ve loved being a part of a few startups, and I hope to one day start my own company.
