Hi Andrew! How did your passion for sustainability motivate you to move to San Francisco?

I had lived in the city for about a year during an internship and fell in love with the culture of San Francisco. Once I graduated, I knew I had to come back! My main motivation to return to San Francisco was to put my Masters in Sustainability to work in bettering the city and lives of its residents. During the day, I work as a sustainability consultant, mainly focusing on zero waste education and city systems. I’ve also built up my own passion project, Mycro Green Life, a blog, YouTube channel, and podcast I created to share my years of knowledge to inspire beginners to live a more sustainable lifestyle.

Why was coliving right for you?

At the beginning of 2021, I decided it was time to start a new chapter in my life. I had always wanted to try coliving and have the opportunity to meet interesting people from around the world. When I began my apartment search, I looked at a variety of coliving options in San Francisco, but Common’s modern style and quality stood out to me! After taking a virtual tour, I decided on a four-bedroom coliving suite and my 3 roommates and I quickly became friends.

Roommate living and getting to know my neighbors have helped me not feel lonely, even during a pandemic! My roommates and I love going out for drinks or enjoying the views from the roof. Two of my neighbors are also YouTubers, and we’ve formed a creative working group to help encourage each other and brainstorm ideas.

What’s your favorite part of living at Common and the neighborhood?

The roof is by far my favorite amenity space. It has a gorgeous view and feels safe for small gatherings or meals. I love not being glued to my screen and instead just enjoying the city skyline as I eat my breakfast or enjoy the sunset.

In SoMa, I love visiting Sextant Coffee Roasters, an incredible Ethiopian coffee shop that forms relationships with coffee farmers. If I ever need to shop, Westfield Mall is within walking distance or I often take my electric scooter to the local thrift shops to find great secondhand clothes.

Some fun stuff!

Favorite neighborhood: Marina District

Dream celebrity roommate: Tom Holland

Favorite local spot: Fisherman’s Wharf

Go-to coffee shop drink: Equator Coffee

Fill in the blank: “You can never have enough brunches when living in San Francisco”

Ideal Friday night in SF: Rooftop BBQs with my neighbors
