Hi Madison! Can you describe your day-to-day role at Common?

My day typically consists of move-in calls with members where we discuss any feedback, questions, or concerns that they have. This is also where we introduce them to the Connect by Common app to ensure they’re properly registered and able to use all of the resources we provide. The second half of my role is partnering with local businesses and event vendors to plan events and experiences in each market.

What’s your favorite part about working at Common?

My favorite part about working at Common is the people I’ve met while working here. I’ve been lucky enough to remain on teams where I’ve become really close with my coworkers and managers!

What was your first week at Common like?

My first week was a whirlwind of information and new faces, but I had an extremely well-structured training plan that really helped me adjust to the work and culture at Common.

How has your role changed since you started?

I’m in my third role at Common, which speaks to Common’s desire to promote from within. I started on the Member Support Team, moved into an Associate Manager role on the Support team, and I’m now on the Onboarding and Experience team (OXM). The OXM team has seen a lot of pivoting throughout the pandemic as our entire event structure had to change. We’re excited to dive back into in-person events and experiences now, and believe our members will be too!

Some fun stuff:

Favorite hobby? I’m a member at the Met and a women’s volunteer organization, The New York Junior League, so I spend a lot of my free time there. This year, I’m running the NYC Marathon with the NYJL team.

Which city are you based in and what do you love about it? I’m based in New York City, and I love everything about it. I love the energy and diversity of the city. New York City has the best of everything: food, theater, music, etc. What’s not to love!

What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be an astronaut. I read every book in my school and local library on the solar system and my room was covered in Outer Space stickers and posters! That’s about as far as I got.

Your favorite team outing/bonding activity (a virtual hang out counts)? During the pandemic, our team did a virtual ravioli-making class through Airbnb where we got to make ravioli with an Italian family. It was very fun and very delicious!

Favorite place? Anywhere with my family. We could be shopping at Target or traveling to Paris, and we have just as much fun either way.

Are you looking for the next move in your career? We’re looking for personable people to join our Sales, Member Experience, Property Services, and other teams across the country. Head to our Careers page to learn more and apply!
