Nov 2, 2021, New York, NY — Today, Common announced that they have been selected by premiere scooter company Unagi to run its first-ever on-demand scooter residential rental program in NYC, “Unagi on Demand.” The exclusive partnership will launch at ALTA, Common’s flagship location in Long Island City. Unagi is the company redefining urban, local travel with its best-of-breed portable electric scooters, providing an easier, cheaper and more fun way for people to get from point A to point B, perfectly balancing weight, range, speed, and rideability. As a property manager revolutionizing the industry, Common is committed to working with partners like Unagi that help deliver its mission of making city living easier for the modern renter. Common plans to expand this unique offering to additional properties in its portfolio nationally in 2022.

Through this first-of-its-kind pilot program, residents of the building can rent Unagi scooters at an affordable price, ranging from $3 per hour or $15 for 12 hours. With 50% of Common residents moving to a city for the first time, Common’s partnership with Unagi allows residents to explore and discover their city with added convenience, affordability, and sustainability– no car necessary. At ALTA by Common, renters will be able to start their scooter adventure by simply scanning a QR code.

“Giving people access to Unagi scooters will empower and inspire them to explore their city in a smarter, more sustainable way, with no sacrifice to style,” said David Hyman, CEO and Founder of Unagi. “Unagi is shaking up the status quo to change how people take on their cities, and Common is the perfect partner. We’re making it easier and more efficient for people to travel to and from their favorite hangs, smoothly and carefree.”

In June of 2021, Common took over management of ALTA, a coliving and conventional apartment building focused on providing an attainable yet luxury housing experience. The building officially opened in 2018 and it continues to be a sought-after home for young professionals in New York. At ALTA, coliving rents are starting at $1,600 per month and include fully furnished apartments, weekly cleanings, community events, discounts to local and national brands, and access to all of the building’s thoughtful amenities.

“Common is single-handedly changing what it means to be a property manager by going well beyond the operational basics and bringing in creative solutions to the problems modern renters face. Convenient and sustainable transportation is essential for everyday workers, and now Common residents will have a new way to commute and explore NYC with Unagi,” said Molly Graizzaro, Director of Brand Marketing at Common. “I’m looking forward to bringing this meaningful partnership to even more cities, especially those burdened by overwhelming parking woes, and helping renters discover the best neighborhoods, local restaurants, and parks only a short ride away“.”

Common has over 21,000 signed units under development in 28 cities across the globe and continues to disrupt the property management space. This past year, Common announced its expansion to the UK, acquired management agreements from its biggest competitor Starcity, added former Deputy Mayor of New York City Alicia Glen to its Board of Directors, and raised $50 million in its Series D venture capital funding round from Kinnevik.
