How Adrian found an apartment he loves at Common

TwitterPinterestFacebook

Finding an apartment you like can be tough, but finding an apartment you love is even harder. After scrolling through hundreds of listings, Adrian came across Common and made the move into Common Grand

Besides a comfortable and beautiful apartment in Brooklyn, Adrian’s move into Common gave him a chance to meet new people and connect with his community.

Hi Adrian! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Hi! I am a Business Analyst at a food company called Ark Foods. I manage the day-to-day sales and marketing data. Each day can be a little different — sometimes I’m making a sales dashboard for a group of accounts we sell to and other times I’m helping the Operations team with packaging and inventory analysis. It’s a small company so people wear various hats. I also love to cook and try out new recipes such as sous vide desserts or fermented lemon rinds.

What was your apartment search like?

My apartment search was a bit of a process. I wanted to find something with a private room and a kitchen for me to cook in and I searched on StreetEasy, Zillow, and Facebook Marketplace to no avail. I saw Common on Facebook and it sounded too good to be true — I’m pleasantly surprised by the whole experience so far!

How long have you lived at Common Grand? What’s your favorite part about living at Common Grand?

I have lived at Common for about 9 months and I love the community aspect of my suite — we’re all friendly with each other and we set up dinners and different outings. I also like that the utilities and household supplies are included in the rent.

You mentioned that you enjoyed the events, community focus, and amenities at Common Grand. What are some events that you’ve gone to?

I have been to a wine tasting, a boat cruise, ice skating, an Italian cooking class, and many more! I really try to take advantage of the events since a lot of the same people go. We are able to connect with each other in such a big city.

Your co-created event sounded so cool! Can you tell us a little bit about how you came up with the idea, what the process was like, and your favorite parts of the event?

I created an event where we went to SoJo Spa Club in New Jersey. It was an all day experience subsidized by Common. We experienced hot water baths, a private massage, and multiple hot and cold saunas — which I fell asleep in, that was funny!

Are you planning on co-creating another event? If so, what will it be?

I would like to co-create another event, maybe an Easter egg hunt.

How do you think Common makes city living easier?

Common removes a lot of the hassle that comes with living with multiple people and makes the transition to a new city much easier. There’s always something going on since there are so many members!

I feel as though Common creates plenty of opportunities to _____

Connect with people from different walks of life.

Some fun stuff:

Dream celebrity roommate: Ryan Reynolds

Favorite local spot in Brooklyn: I like going to the Greene Grape Supermarket. There is a wide selection of gourmet groceries that you can’t find elsewhere. They also have a wine shop next door that is an absolute must to visit.

Place you spend the most time in New York City/Brooklyn: On my Citibike!

Describe your ideal day in New York City/Brooklyn: Volunteering in the morning, catching up with a friend for brunch in the afternoon, and then going to a comedy show or play in the evening.

Go-to coffee shop drink: Hot Chocolate (no coffee for me!)
