Whether you want your day to be filled with beer, art, food, or all three, we have the go-to list of everything you can do in a 20 minute (walking) trip near ALTA by Common.

Fifth Hammer Brewing Company (19 minutes away)
Start your bar-hopping trip off strong with Fifth Hammer Brewing Company. With a menu filled with IPAs, lagers, and sours, your options are endless. They also rotate their beer listso there’s always a reason to go back.

ICONYC Brewing (17 minutes away)
Next on our list is ICONYC Brewing. With a ton of drink options, including cider and wine, it’s hard not to find something you love at this brewery. If you’re getting hungry, you can order food to be delivered and eat there.

Big aLICe Brewing (19 minutes away)
Finish the day at Big aLICe Brewing. With great beer, exceptional service, and an outdoor seating area, this spot is just about perfect. Lovers of this brewery come for the beer and stay for the great atmosphere and the friendly staff.

Things to see and do


With a high concentration of art galleries, art institutions, and studio space, Long Island City’s art scene is growing every day. Besides a thriving art community, Long Island City also has a lot of outdoor spots with beautiful scenic views.

SculptureCenter (7 minutes away)
SculptureCenter is an artist-founded space that showcases contemporary art by both established and emerging artists. If you enjoy modern art and learning about new artists, this spot is a must-see.

MoMA PS1 (13 minutes away)
One of the oldest and largest nonprofit contemporary art institutions in the United States, MoMA PS1 displays beautiful art that you definitely need to check out. Admission is free for New York City residents and tickets can be reserved online. There’s also an outdoor courtyard where visitors can take a seat and relax.

Queensbridge Park (18 minutes away)
This public park has waterfront views of the Queensboro Bridge, baseball fields, picnic areas, and playgrounds. Visit Queensbridge Park in the morning for sunrise or in the afternoon for sunset. No matter what time you visit, you’ll enjoy this community haven.

Foodie central


Trying new restaurants is always exciting. Lucky for you, there’s a lot of great places to try in Long Island City. Discover authentic Mexican food, classic Italian, and a ton of other great spots.

Levante (7 minutes away)
Italian cuisine, American bar, and a New York Vibe — Levante is the go-to restaurant to get great pasta and pizza, antipasto, and even brunch on the weekend. Since it’s popular, plan to make a reservation beforehand.

Jora (20 minutes away)
If you’re looking for a place to get authentic Peruvian food, Jora should definitely be on your list. Large dinner portions, delicious food, and friendly staff will make this spot your new favorite. We recommend the grilled skirt steak and ceviche.

Top Quality (17 minutes away)
This restaurant is called Top Quality for a reason. With outstanding Mexican food and a great atmosphere, you’ll be planning your next dinner here during your meal. The menu has great cocktails, like a lemongrass mule and a frozen guava paloma, or tasty dinner items like smoked brisket tacos and carne asada.
