4 Places to Visit for the Best Salt Lake City Nightlife

TwitterPinterestFacebook

What is Salt Lake City known for? Salt Lake City, often referred to as the central city of Utah, might be known for its irregular liquor laws, but that shouldn’t stop you from getting out and enjoying the city’s vibrant and exciting nightlife.

With hundreds of the best bars, microbreweries, lounges, and live performances, you’re bound to find great nightlife in the Crossroads of the West.

Of course, the first step to an incredible night out is knowing where to go. Whether you’re looking for a dance floor that’s flooded with strobe lights, a lowkey pub with live music, or an outdoor space to socialize over a bottle of beer, Salt Lake City nightlife has what you need to unwind.

#1 Squatters Pub Brewery

Squatters Pub Brewery opened in downtown Salt Lake City in 1989 and has been a staple of nightlife in Salt Lake City ever since.1 Their on-site brewery features an array of fresh and delicious beers, and their kitchen whips up some of the most savory bar snacks you’ll find in the area.

Squatters Pub is one of downtown’s best places. They serve an eclectic mix of food centered around traditional American pub fare, all of which make an excellent pairing for the pub’s home brews. Highlights from the late-night menu include:

  • Fish and Chips
  • Squatters Legendary Buffalo Wings
  • Roadhouse Nachos

#2 Red Rock Brewing Company

Squatters Pub gets a healthy dose of competition from Red Rock Brewing Company, downtown’s other top brewpub.

No newcomer to the scene, Red Rock opened its doors in 1994 and has always been a major player in Salt Lake City nightlife and its burgeoning craft beer scene.2

Like Squatters, Red Rock serves award-winning beers in a lively beer bar atmosphere and an elevated menu that features a range of appetizers and small plate options, from mozzarella sticks and avocado toast to chicken drumsticks and calamari.

There’s an ever-evolving list of chef’s specials, too. Snack on buffalo wings dressed in buffalo sauce and blue cheese sauce, or opt for a grilled Kobe burger topped with chipotle BBQ sauce, caramelized onions, and a fried egg.

#3 Urban Lounge

The Urban Lounge has a reputation for being one of the hippest spots in town.3 This live music venue features a range of musical acts, from up-and-comers you haven’t heard to established bands you know and love.

Urban Lounge prides itself on its alternative, indie rock vibe, and the interior matches the post-grunge aesthetic of many of the bands that play there. Dim lighting, gritty interiors, and, of course, a full cocktail and beer bar make for an invigorating Salt Lake City nightlife experience.

#4 Lake Effect

If you’re a fan of craft cocktails, delicious small plates and live music, then Salt Lake City has a bar built just for you.

The Lake Effect was created to fill a missing niche in downtown Salt Lake City.4  It provides guest a one of a kind experience with an atmosphere that is sure to keep guests coming back for more. The establishment features two different bars for you to try their unique and exquisite cocktails at.

But no matter what, with an impressive bar selection, nightly live music, and delectable small plates, you’re guaranteed to have a great experience.
