We’re excited to announce that we’ve officially hit a 10,000 bed signed real estate pipeline! At Common, we work with developers and real estate partners to create convenient, community based apartments. Each bed in this pipeline represents a potential new member, and with 10,000 beds set to be developed, that means thousands more people will soon be able to enjoy the benefits of living at Common. Plus, we’re not just growing our bed-count, we’re expanding across the country, bringing high-quality, attainable housing to Boston, Massachusetts, Baltimore, Maryland, Denver, Colorado, and Portland, Oregon. We’ve put together never-before-seen data and information about our expansion below. Here are a few highlights:
- 44% of Common new homes are ground up construction — we see large-scale ground-up projects as the best way to create innovative housing for the missing middle, and we’ve largely moved away from the smaller adaptive reuse homes we launched with
- 23% of the homes are a mix of coliving and traditional studio and one-bedroom units
- The largest portion of the pipeline is in Los Angeles, with New York City close behind
